Aim
To impart knowledge on concepts of engineering textile and apparel products as per the customer requirement.
1. INTRODUCTION 5
Product design and cost requirement – factors to be cosidered for product design – design specifications – product development strategies – standardization
2. GARMENT DESIGN 9
Selection of raw materials – factors affecting selection of fabric – selection of fabric parameters, quality, colour, and type of fabric for particular end use like party wear, formal wear, casual wear, sports wear, night wear, beach wear and working cloths.- Selection of wet processing techniques –Selection of dyeing, printing and finishing technique, colour mix, type of dyeing machine finishing.
3. YARN ENGINEERING 9
Concept of yarn engineering, Different yarn constructions and different spinning systems, yarn design elements
4. FABRIC ENGINEERING 10
Concept of fabric engineering – structure – property relations in fabrics – total material design system for woven apparel fabrics.
5. GARMENT ENGINEERING PROCESS 12
Selection of garment manufacturing process parameters – type of lay, marker planning, cutting equipments, production line, sewing machine, type of seam, stitches, sewing thread, stitches per inch for a particular end use.
Selection of finishing technique – types of finishing required for dress materials, sarees, trousers, skirts for formal wear, casual wear, party wear, sports wear and industrial wear. Selection criteria for accessories like button, zippers, labels, interlinings - Pressing and packing standards for apparel products.
