CURRICULUM FROM IV SEMESTERS FOR B.E. ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING
EE 9251 TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION
AIM:
To become familiar with the function of different components used in Transmission and Distribution levels of power systems and modeling of these components.
OBJECTIVES:
To develop expression for computation of fundamental parameters of lines.
To categorize the lines into different classes and develop equivalent circuits for these classes.
To analyse the voltage distribution in insulator strings and cables and methods to improve the same.
UNIT I – INTRODUCTION 9
Structure of electric power system: generation, transmission and distribution; Types
of AC and DC distributors – distributed and concentrated loads – interconnection -
HVDC and EHV AC transmission
UNIT II - TRANSMISSION LINE PARAMETERS 9
Parameters of single and three phase transmission lines with single and double
circuits: Resistance, inductance and capacitance of solid, stranded and bundled
conductors: Symmetrical and unsymmetrical spacing and transposition; application of
self and mutual GMD; skin and proximity effects; interference with neighbouring
communication circuits. Typical configuration, conductor types and electrical
parameters of 400, 220, 110, 66 and 33 kV lines.
