28. An organic compound ‘A’ with molecular formula C5H8O2 is reduced to n-pentane on treatment with Zn-Hg/HCl.’A’ forms a dioxime with hydroxylamine and gives a positive Iodoform test and Tollen’s reagent test.
Identify the compound A and deduce its structure.

iii) The boiling point elevation for 1.20 g of solute in 100 g of benzeneis 0.253 K.If the solute is acetic acid ,what conclusion would you draw
about the state of its molecule in this solution ?Kb for benzene is2.53 K kg mol-1.Calculate elevation in boiling point if solute behaves normally.
30.Give a chemical equation to illustrate the following processes- [5]
i) Reimer Tieman reaction
ii) Cannizzaro reaction
OR
Give reasons :
i) Transition metals form interstitial compounds.
ii) The third ionization energy of Mn is high.
iii) Chromium has high melting point.
iv) Zn,Cd,Hg are not regarded as transition metals.
v) There is decrease in atomic size with increasing atomic numbers of transition metals across a period.
