The diverse field of information technology is growing rapidly in India. And to add to the list of making use of most updated and high-tech methods is Delhi University, popularly known as DU. The University is planning to make admissions online from the upcoming session 2012.
In order to make the admission procedure easy and convenient, the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (HRD), Government of India, recommended the introduction of online applications at Delhi University. The proposal will further be discussed in a meeting of a high-capacity and experienced committee, to be held in the near future. The committee, formed recently, comprises of university representatives and principals from 16 different colleges.
As per sources, majority of the committee members are in favor of the plan. Not only will the admission process become transparent, but outstation students will get an equal opportunity to apply to their choice of programmes. Further, online applications will make it easier for them to enroll by visiting the University’s website.
Once approved and implemented, online admission process will solve the problems of students belonging to north-east region by avoiding the unnecessary stay in Delhi until all the formalities are completed. Through online applications, they can get their admission schedule and other related information on the website. Further, they will have to visit the college only at the time of final admission.
Sources have further revealed that the process is still in the initial stage and will be finalized by mid-January. Further, the committee is planning to make the whole process handy and less cumbersome, thereby allowing the students to apply to a large number of colleges and the courses offered by them. However, there some DU colleges that have conducted online admissions previously, namely, Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College, Hansraj College and Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC).
