The details of number of posts (Vacancies) are as follows
Probationary officer, JMGS-I, total posts - 500, age: minimum - 21 years maximum - 30 years
Probationary clerk, total post - 1000, age: minimum 18, maximum 28
The recruitment for the post of probationary clerks shall be on state-wise/Union territory-wise basis. Candidates can apply for probationary clerk post in one state/union territory only and have to appear for the test, from a centre allotted for that particular state/union territory. On selection, candidates will be placed anywhere in that state/union territory depending up on Bank’s need and candidate has to work in the place of posting for a minimum period of 5 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories, for which no post has been announced, are free to apply against the un-reserved posts, provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned.

Probationary Officers (JMGS-I)
Qualification:Graduation with first class with 60% (SC/ST/PwD candidates 55%)
Job profile: General banking, House keeping, supervisory functions etc and any other work assigned by the Bank from time to time
Probationary Clerks
Qualification: Pass in 10+2 with 60% (SC/ST/PwD candidates 55%) or a pass in graduation. Should have studied the local language of the state/union territory for which he/she is applying (as I/II/III language) either at SSLC/SSC or 10+2 or graduation level
Job profile: General Banking, House keeping etc and any other work assigned by the Bank from time to time
All the qualifications mentioned should be from a recognized university/Institution
Computer literacy: Operating computer systems in MS-DOS, MS windows, basic concepts of Networking and connectivity, MS office (Word, Excel, Power Point, e-mail etc) shall be an essential qualification, which a candidate must either possess or acquire within 6 months from the date of joining the Bank.
Hindi knowledge: The candidates shall acquire working knowledge of Hindi, if not possessed already, before completion of probationary period.

Procedure for making payment of application fee/postal charges: The application fee/ postal charges can be paid by; directly crediting the amount in any Canara Bank branch or paying the amount through NEFT in any other Bank.
The procedure for payment of fee is; directly crediting the amount in any Canara Bank Branch; take print-out of the payment challan from website; fill the particulars viz, Name, Canara Bank branch name, city, amount, post applied for; submit the fee payment challan and amount in any Canara Bank branch; collect the candidate’s copy of fee payment challan from the Branch. Please check that challan is properly signed and the details of transaction Id/message user reference no (MUR), branch name and DP code number, deposit date are noted in the challan by the Branch authorities; log on to bank website for applying on-line
Paying the amount through NEFT in any other Bank (if the candidate opts for payment through other Banks); fill the NEFT challan as required by the bank with beneficiary details as follows; name of the account, Canara bank recruitment project-2010; account number 1173201002125, payee bank, Canara bank, South end road branch, Bangalore, IFSC code, CNRB0001173; make payment; collect NEFT payment receipt. Please check that receipt is properly signed and the details of NEFT UTR No., IFSC code of the sending branch, Name of the sending bank, city, deposit date, amount etc are noted in the challan by the Branch authorities; log on to bank website for applying on-line.
After on-line registration, candidates are requested to write their Registration Number, Name, Date of Birth, post applied for on the back of the Payment Challan/NEFT Receipt. Candidates have to submit this original Payment Challan / NEFT Receipt along with Test Call Letter at the time of Written Test.
The application fee/postal charges should be paid on or before the following dates; Probationary officer/Probationary clerk – 24.04.2010
Even if the last date of registration changes due to technical reasons, the valid dates for payment of application fee / postal charges will not be changed.
Payment of fee by Demand Draft/Cheque /Money orders / Postal orders etc will not be accepted.
Selection Procedure
Probationary officer and probationary clerk; written test + Interview
There will be negative marks for wrong answers in objective test. The descriptive test is only for qualifying purpose. Bank will decide the minimum cut-off marks for each subject as well as total weighted score (TWS). Depending on the number of vacancies, such of those candidates who rank sufficiently high in the order of merit in the written test as per the cut off marks decided by the Bank will only be called for interview.
Mere eligibility/admission to the test/pass in the test does not imply that the Bank is satisfied beyond doubt about the candidates’ eligibility and shall not vest any right in a candidate for being called for interview. The Bank reserves the right to call only the requisite number of candidates for interview.
Other details regarding the test will be given to the candidates in the Acquaint Yourself Booklet, which will be sent along with the call letter for written examination.
The Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure, if necessary. The change, if any, shall be communicated to the candidates in advance.
The Bank would be free to reject the candidature of any candidate at any stage of the recruitment process, if he/she is found to be ineligible. If appointed, such a candidate may be summarily removed and the fees paid by the ineligible candidates shall be forfeited.
Maximum marks for Interview is 100 for Probationary officer and Probationary clerk posts.
The final selection for the above posts shall be on the basis of performance in written test and Interview.
