Time: Three hours (2004 admissions) Maximum:100 Marks

1.Part A: (8*5=40 marks)
a) With neat sketches explain how a MOSFET IC is fabricated.
b) Write a note on ‘photolithography’.
c) Draw the equivalent circuit of Op-amp and explain.
d) Draw the Op-amp Integrator. Derive an expression for its output voltage.
e) Explain the concept and significance of virtual ground.
f) Briefly discuss the frequency response of an Op-amp.
g) Define: Duty cycle of a Multivibrator. Explain its significance.
h) What are active filters? State their advantages?

Part B:(4*15=60 marks)
2. (a) I. Explain in detail various Isolation techniques with neat sketches. (7 marks)
II. Differentiate thin film technology from thick film technology (8 marks)
Or
(b) I. Explain the advantages of CMOS technology in detail. (7 marks)
II. Explain about: (1) Planar IC (2)Hybrid IC. With neat sketches. (8 marks)

3.(a) I. Explain the significance of current mirror in an Op-amp circuit.
II. Define and explain:
1.SURR 2. CMRR 3.Input bias current 4. Offset voltage. (8 marks)
5.ROM.
Or
(b) I. Explain in detail the effect of slew rate in Op-amp applications.(7 marks)
II. Describe in detail about Op-amp compensating networks.(8 marks)

4.(a) I. Draw Op-amp Instrumentation amplifier and explain its principle. (7 marks)
II. Explain the applications of Op-amp as calling amplifier and a summer with neat sketches and Derivation. (8 marks)
Or
(b) Draw Op-amp log and antilog amplifiers. Explain their operation. Derive the equations for output voltage for both.

5. (a) Draw a neat circuit diagram for Wein-bridge Oscillator and explain its principle. Derive the condition for Oscillation. Obtain an expression for resonant frequency.
Or
(b)Write technical notes on:
1.Universal active filter. (7 marks)
2. Switched Capacitor Integrator.(8 marks)
