University Grants Commission of ‘India does not believe that the names of Indian universities would be unique, the other UGC recognized by the government-run Mahatma Gandhi University was founded in 2007 in Andhra Pradesh, and not contested by the parents of the Mahatma Gandhi University .
Major Mahatma Gandhi University (formerly Gandhi University) has been credited (B +) by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, India. The next visit will take place between November 24 and 27, 2011.
The University has 223 affiliated colleges spread over five districts of central Kerala. The University offers various academic programs in the fields of Gandhian thought, International Relations and Politics, Technology, Physics, Nanosciences, Disability Studies and Rehabilitation Sciences, Special Education and Rehabilitation Sciences, psychology rehabilitation , behavioral medicine and rehabilitation, rehabilitation nursing, journalism, chemistry, including polymer chemistry, nursing, hospital administration, science, environment and disaster management, among others.
